Hi guys.
Another good pluot, tested in my orchard , and as you can see with “impressive” brix levels.
Crimson Royale, is different from the pluots of the Flavor series, since it denotes more predominance of apricot, and it does not have the acidity of other varieties.
It is very good, but it lacks that spark of balance between sweetness and acidity, in this variety, which is very sweet and tasty, the flavor, let’s say, is móre flatter.
Hi Richard.
Your comment “Wow”, is brief but concise.
No more words are needed hahahaha.
My climate and terrain is extremely appropriate for stone fruit trees, and by doing things right, results like this are obtained.
I am very Jealous of you Jose. You got all these rare varieties and you live in Spain, I live here about 1:30 minutes away from Dave Wilson and I couldn’t get those varieties even after emailing them so many times.
Keep posting your other pluot varieties I love reading your post.
Richard, I bought this variety quite a few years ago in a reputable American nursery (I still have the invoice in my email), and it is not in a commercial plantation, but rather a single tree in my orchard, with no other purpose than to test its behavior in my region and for family consumption.
There is no commercial interest and of course it has not multiplied.
Yes. I was referring to the Dave Wilson wholesale production nursery, who produces fruit trees for both farmers and retail nurseries. I’m a former customer.
Hi John.
Yes, it really is wonderful to be able to enjoy these varieties.
I began to be interested in interspecific hybrids a lot of years ago, and in those years it was much easier to obtain these varieties than today.
When I bought the varieties of pluots “for growers”, there were Dave Wilson reseller nurseries, which had quite a few varieties of this type, for sale to hobbyists, so I took advantage of the opportunity and bought quite a few varieties.
Currently you have to make a very large purchase of trees of each variety, so it is impossible for an amateur.
As I told you , I was very lucky to be able to buy these varieties .
In my country you can also buy this type of variety, but at a professional level (for several hectares), through Zaiger’s European editor, which is IPS (International Plant Selection), and in fact I have professional farmer friends with plantations of Zaiger pluots.
In my case, I am a simple amateur, passionate about the good fruit varieties, but without any commercial or multiplication interest (this must be fully and absolutely respected) and in my garden I only have one tree for each variety (some varieties 2 trees ) , but only to see their behavior in my climatic and terrain conditions , and enjoy the good fruit with my family ( it is only for own consumption ) .
John, I have still seen some nurseries for hobbyists, which have some professional varieties available such as Flavor Heart.
Hi again Richard.
If you read the previous message, which I sent to John, you will see how I got my varieties quite a few years ago.
Now it is different and a very large number of trees of each variety are required for purchase (I was actually very lucky for several years).
Now in Spain at a professional level there are also plantations of Zaiger pluots, with trees purchased from their editor for Europe, for professional farmers, which is IPS (International Plant Selection).
But I am a simple hobbyist, with one tree per variety for family consumption.
A nearby farm grows these and I find them to be quite a treat! To me, they are perfectly balanced. We host CSA boxes for our neighborhood, and everyone I’ve spoken to seems to love these. Now that you describe them as a bit “flat,” I’m very curious to try the varieties you find taste even better! What are your favorite pluots?
I have described the flavor of Crimson Royale as flatter, since it does not have a complex flavor like other varieties.
The flavor that one person may like may not please another.
That said, I have a predilection for varieties with complex flavors where sweet, acidic and spice flavors are masterfully mixed.
Personally I love these varieties:
Flavor Supreme
Flavor King
Flavor Finale
-Flavor Treat
Honey Punch
Dapple Fire (and the others varieties of the Dapple series)
-Flavor Rouge
Flavor Grenade (it has a very complex flavor, with notes of tropical fruit)
I have many more, but I really like the flavor of these varieties that I mentioned to you.
On the contrary, the pleasure is mine sharing my experiences with you.
In a few days I will harvest another excellent variety, which is Flavor Treat.
This year my tree of the Flavor Treat variety pollinated excessively well and has a bit of fruit overload, so they are somewhat smaller that other years in which the fruits have reached weights of more than 200 grams.
But when I harvest it, I will make a small report with photos.
Flavor Treat is one of the best varieties by his flavor.
Yeahhhhh , Mrs. Gibson.
It is my unfinished business, and I hope to stop it with the help of the new drug Todacitan.
I always use the tobacco package as a size reference, so that the caliber of the fruits can be appreciated.
Yeahhh Brady with the fruit trees “IT’S NEVER OVER.”
I really like good varieties of cherries and peaches, and it’s incredible, every year new and better varieties appear, with incredible characteristics.
The best thing is to have a small garden, which forces you to grow few trees, since if you have a lot of land and water “you will be a prey to circumstances” as happens to me hahahaha.
I’m really happy for you that you got those varieties, at least we got some people reviewing it and tasting it for us. Just waiting for their patent. I’m actually already waiting for the flavor heart, and flavor rich I cant wait to get it next year.
