Did you have a certain variety of peach tree that did best in the late frost of 2026?

Elberta and Redhaven seemed to do a little better for me.

I have heard that Cresthaven is a great selection for avoiding late frosts. I added it to the collection last spring but it didn’t flower this year. Time will tell.

Loring is a late bloomer, does well for me avoiding frost damage

Late bloomers seem to be the safest bet in general. Loring is a good shout, I’ve heard the same. The tricky part is that late blooming doesn’t always mean late ripening so you can end up with a shorter window at the other end of the season.

Have young redhaven and contender, they each have about a half dozen baby peaches that survived the freeze. The redhaven is maybe twice as big so by percentage it’s possible the contender did better.

I have both Redhaven and Contender peach trees. They were all in full bloom when we had at least three frost/freeze warnings. I have seen maybe the same amount of peaches that survived the late frost/freezes we had. Maybe, maybe 4 or so peaches on each tree. I will see if they actually develop enough to get them to ripen. A huge disappointment for sure.

Sorry for everyone’s peach crop loss this spring.
