Do you have a one and only or just a few?

This is my only survivor for my plum crop and it has about 20 days to it’s estimated ripening date. Current size is about 1 1/2" so I’m guessing it sizes up in the last two weeks. Bill

I had only one Mariposa plum, a big fat one. But I pruned off a black knotted limb on the tree and the shaking dislodged it so now I have zero :disappointed:

This year I only have one apricot. everyday I pray nothing will happen to it

I have one small limb with about four Seckel pears. Good chance some will make it to the table.

I got so paranoid I oversprayed the poor thing and it died

My one and only au-brum was picked today and I thought I would give my opinions about it. Although it was a little smaller than I hoped for it was a firm sweet plum that had just a hint of bitter at the peeling. I think they will be bigger next year as the root and leaf system is larger.

Up here, the weather didn’t warmed up enough to really disturb the trees… One of the few advantages to live farther North. So I get a bit of everything fruiting (far from ripening though!) right now…

Everything froze but apples this year, and a lot of them froze too!
Here are the only two Sweet Bough in the first picture, and two of eight Arlies Red Flesh in the second picture. Other varieties making a few are Gala, Arkansas Black, Winesap, Goldrush, Strawberry Parfait, Callville Blanc, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty, and White Winter Pearmain.
The three Rome trees would have made lots, but I grafted them over last year to Holstein, Belle de Boskoop, and King of Tompkins County, so there are only a few apples inside the grafted area.
Someday we’re going to have tons of fruit, but for now we’re happy to have samples.

My Gravenstein is still holding on to just one apple. It will be red in August, barring disaster…

LOL… you know there is a squirrel off in the distance just staring at that one apple…just waiting to the second its almost ripe to grab it :slight_smile: I had to laugh because i had a couple of i think Spring Satin that had just turned and i looked at them and a stupid robin must have stabbed the big ones…huge gouges in them now. God…its never ending with pests.

I HAD 1 moniqui white apricot on my tree…i touched it yesterday and it fell off…no wonder it wasn’t getting any bigger. Stupid thing.

I’m getting to be more comfortable with growing apples and pears but my three plum trees have me a little worried about pest management. In my area spring frost usually gets rid of most plums and if that don’t eliminate them plum curculio will so I’m considering building a three tree greenhouse. Still not sure if I want to go that distance for some plums. Bill

My two sweet bough got knocked off the tree by some lambs small enough to squeeze into the cages…I’m sure the chickens and ducks finished them off once they were on the ground. Thankfully a lot of the other varieties are higher on their respective trees.

My one and only Arkansas Black apple. This is my first from my trees assuming it hangs on a couple more months.

I agree, Bill. An Arkansas Black I picked and ate ate PYO was very dark red, matching its name.

I personally think apples like Arkansas Black and Gold Rush should be eaten after spending some time in storage.

This one is my first to grow but last year I got some of the Ark Bl from a local orchard. The dark color can deceive us into thinking it will be sweet but it is right the opposite soon after picking. Ark Bl will never meet most peoples taste but I like it. I will be adding more limbs of Golrush and Arkansas Black next year. These two along with my Pink Lady will give me some very good winter storage apple. Bill

I had one Juignos pear, my very first one, in fact on my tree. Unbeknownst to me. I happened to be walking down the driveway last month, and something yellow caught my eye. I gasped. This pear is supposed to be ripe in June. Ran up to the tree. Way over ripe and about 1/3 eaten by birds. I cried. I picked it and ate it anyway. But still cried. Boo. :cry::sob:
