Does anyone have pictures of a mature or 3+ year old apple tree on EMLA 106 or M106 apple rootstock?

Does anyone have pictures of a mature or 3+ year old apple tree on EMLA 106 or M106 apple rootstock?

I’d show you a picture of my Goldrush on M106 but it won’t be helpful. At about 8 yrs it’s 3ft tall. Same variety on M111 is 6ft.

How tall is it?

i don’t think any rootstock will reach it’s mature size in 3 years. With maybe the exception of M27 grafted on 1/1 size rootstock.

when looking for an estimate for MM106 tree size you could have a look at Stephen Hayes youtube. If I’m not mistaken most if not all his tree’s are on MM106. But his climate and soil could make a big difference in how large/small MM106 gets compared to you.

MM106 has some disease problems. Especially on wet soils.
If you have clay or wet spot/soil you could look at M116 (supposed to be a replacement for MM106 with similar attributes but better disease resistance. But relatively new and untested) Or some of the Geneva series.

I have ordered a tree on the EMLA 106 for this spring. I have never used that rootstock before. I appreciate the information. Thank you.

Thanks i was considering g890

Crotch angles are a little tight…but it is a good root if you have sufficient drainage.
Cold hardy to about -30 I think.

Thank you for the info. I will see how it does here. I am putting it on a place that has good drainage.

It produces a larger tree if I am not mistaken. I am not sure the height but I read it is the larger size of the G series rootstocks.
