Elegant Lady Peach

She was all alone, surrounded by sequoia type trees, leaning to the side, unbalanced side branches with some broken, looking dejected.

Someone had stripped her of her tags, but there was a sticker that said simply “peach” on the pot.

Since I was there on Wednesday and only found Elegant Lady Peaches, of which all had tags, and now here 5 days later, only 1 lone, nameless peach, I am pretty sure she must have been one of the Elegant Ladies that somehow lost her tag.

I got her home and up-potted her, her roots were on the bottom and looked reddish brown. I put her in a 15 gallon pot with some “perfect potting soil” sprinkled with Mykos, watered her in and then finished her off with a final container of water dosed with super thrive.

She looks pretty darn happy this morning.

Anyone have any opinions/experience or information about Elegant Lady peach that they can share?

Elegant Lady was once the ‘Cadillac’ of commerical peaches.

Was the ‘sister’ to O’Henry…also bred by Burchell.

Lots of other Ladies out there… like Autumn Lady, August Lady, Crimson Lady, Fancy Lady, June Lady etc.

Thanks, @krismoriah

Who bumped her from her throne?

I do like the idea of a peach that survives being mailed to family members!

Says only “good flavor” though…not “excellent” or anything more exciting sounding.

I will see how she does at my location. I won’t put her in the ground until I can protect her from wildlife.

Who else but Rich Lady

Honestly probably CoralStar is a better modern choice… but i like O’Henry myself alot. I am a fan of sweet acid… and OHenry and Elegant Lady are both good choices although less disease resistant than more modern breedings…at least in my location.

I am a huge fan of acid too - my favorite candy is the round, chewy sweet-tarts. I try not to buy them because I know they are awful for me, no redeeming health qualities at all.

I had some flavor grenades from farmers market that made me forget about that candy, boy were they good.

I only saw the Elegant Lady in peaches at the time, thought I’d give her a shot when I saw her left all by herself, all the other fruit trees were sold out.

I guess there is a chance she is not an elegant lady but I doubt it, because I took inventory 5 days before ha ha. I can’t stop myself from looking…
