Not sure what I’ll have after pruning but I’m going to take a wild guess and assume you’re doing the fig shuffle. What were you trying to get on Figaholics I see there’s quite a few still on there.

Good afternoon. I missed out on moro de canava, Cardenillo and borda Barraquer. He did not have black Celeste, Verdolino TD yellow Crinkle Figo roxo or cosme manyo… Yes I do a big shuffle!!:astonished::slightly_smiling_face:

I have not talked to Bass in a while. Does he do cuttings or only plants?

My BordaB is very small I rooted last season. It grew a bunch of figs I should have removed and let it grow but I wanted to try them. I got from the link below. My Cosme Manyo is real tiny graft took super late last season. But here’s one. @KQuinlan Any Borda B or Black Celeste left? The Yellow Crinkle @fruitnut I think was offering them for very inexpensive on figbid.

@armyofda12mnkeys As far as I know he offers small plants. I’ve had nothing but the best experiences dealing with Bass. I have heard that his son is helping out too now. Quite a few figs on ToJ website.

Im out of BordaB and Black Celeste. Just have the few left that were too skinny or too small to sell that I will root

Yes they do, and sadly this year will be their last cutting sale.

I can not provide any cuttings until spring, I have to wait and see how much damage there is from the cold. In the past when I took cuttings in the winter and sent them too people, seemingly great condition branches, wound up being cold damaged. Sometimes there can be a delay in seeing the damage. I don’t have anything that you listed though.

He’s retiring I believe

He’s hoping to retire, and he has said that if he does not retire this year, which he’s trying to do, then he’d still not do a cuttings sale next year, he’s getting old, and all the work associated with the fig cutting sale is very hard work. he has a lot of other responsibilities since he runs a farm, the fig cutting sale is only one of many things he does as a farmer.

The Willy Wonka farm of dreams. Whomever purchases it will have it all. Harvey got the Yangmei orchard now to take care of and recently grafted another 300 new trees. 500 fig trees and most people don’t know he’s got just about every fruit tree you can think of as well as a huge amazing Chestnut orchard. Harvey is living the dream. Like a kid in a candy store.

If he sells the farm, I hope that the new owners keep selling the amazing chestnuts, we don’t bother with chestnuts from anywhere else anymore. His are so good, and never a bad chestnut from him.

Sadly very few people would run it as well as he is, even if it’s a dream farm to them.

They’re the best. His trees are so beautiful too. Alan how do you prepare the chestnuts?

I have only tried the oven version in this video out of the 3 options, although this is the method that has worked best for me, although we use aluminum foil not parchment paper or wax paper, because the parchment paper started to smoke with this recipe, and wax paper smokes even easier https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSq9kN9hgVo
