Free Watermelon Seeds Orangeglo X White Wonder

Is splitting one a way to preview ripeness?

im not sure, ive never have a melon split, but iā€™d like to think a melon could split at any stage of ripeness if uneven watering of just by chance

watermelons can be eaten at any stage but i dont think they reach their full potential until 6 full weeks this is a general rule of thumb and could be different depending on type
an iā€™m talking about the smaller sized melons some of the larger ones probably need more time

the only part that can not be eaten is the thin outer green rind, the rest of the melon is very nutritious
any may be good for you if it isnā€™t too dirty

I was actually asking a question about this comment you made. It appeared you were saying YOU were going to split one in half in two weeks? Maybe i took the comment wrong?

oh i meant i would cut one in half so people could see the inside
so people can know for sure what color they will be

Got it. Thatā€™s a great idea. I had never even heard of them until this forum. All I read now is praise for them. Iā€™m very excited to eat one. Iā€™m going to have to find out how to dry and save seeds for next year.

Do you know how any days you left it on the vine?

Sorry Derby I didnā€™t actually track it. I just left it until the Tendril was completely dead plus 3 days just to be sure and it seems to have worked nicely. I picked 7 this weekend and have 6 more on the vine I am sure will be ready next week. I ate a Whole one this weekend myself as wellā€¦

hey guys, i know its been a while but was wondering if anybody had a few of these seeds to spare?

another member here @DeepBlueDustin

was looking to try them out, even if they are f2ā€™s

having given all of these away years ago, i am without any to spare

im sure heā€™d appreciate trying them out if anybody out there in melon land has some they could shoot his way

much appreciated and im glad everyone had a good time growing this cross, alot of your pictures look like your melons turned out better than mine, especially you @dutch-s

i still give a majority of the success of this cross credit to the orangeglo mother

what a delicious melon

it appears watermelon genes have an extensive amount of ways they can express themself regarding breeding across different colors, pretty kool to see a orange melon x white melon makes a yellow

hopefully on the horizon lies japanese icebox types bred within their own color spectrum

like kaho melon x orangeglo

and hime kansen x strawberry watermelon

maybe in the future i will dabble with more white watermelons, sure is kool to think about

anyways thanks again and shoot @DeepBlueDustin a message if any of you have some seeds to spare

much appreciated
