Anybody seen G11 leaf out later than other rootstocks?
For some reason every single tree on all three varieties on G11 are leafing out very late this year. Fuji, Granny and Goldens.
Lots of other trees are in full bloom

I have one G11, an Alkmene, and it’s the first of my apples to show leaves and fruit buds. It also was the only tree that bloomed last year. So, I guess it’s the variety. My two G16 Grimes Golden are starting to show some small fruit buds too.
I’ll watch my trees this spring. I have some of the G11’s so I will watch when they leaf out. I would think it would be more of the variety of tree not so much the rootstock. However, that is an interesting observation on your part.
Looks like the delay may be related to the large amount that each branch grew last year on the G11.
The older wood is leafing out and blooming like normal but the new wood that grew 3-5 feet last year is delayed. The leaf out on the new wood is slowly starting at the end of each branch and slowly moving toward the leader.
I have never seen anything grow as much at the G11 and I’m hoping the extreme amount of new growth is the reason for the slow leaf out.
Edit: Forgot to mention that many other trees are in full bloom with Pristine and a few others close to petal fall.
My G11’s are actually leafing out earlier than some of my other trees on M111 rootstocks. Some are on M111 interstem’s and a couple are on M7 rootstocks that are leafing out with the G11’s now.
