Gotta greenhouse? Let's see it!

I don’t have one…but I would like one someday.

Sadly I don’t have one. But I’m fairly certain that I’m driving the wife nuts with the pots that take over ever winter so its just a matter of time, effort, and resources. I’m happy to get ideas from others even if the envy will be tough to bear for now.

Epic oldschool wow what beauty

Mine is missing some important pieces, but the ground is too frozen now to set the posts. Hoping to finish this spring or summer.

Looks better than mine. Then again IA winters are a different beast than the mild chill that I deal with in NJ-7A. I look forward to the finished product.

We grow in an unheated 30x72’ high tunnel in zone 8B focusing on figs, persimmons and loquats.

Here is mine: before all the fish tanks to hold heat. I did not run power to the fans or louvers or thermostat. I use the beeswax and spring mechanical auto openers for the vents set to 80degrees. The only heat is a 300watt aquarium heater I put in a 200gallon tank for the colder snaps. Otherwise passive. Zone 8b Seattle burb.

Got it for free, someone was moving and the new buyers wanted it gone as part of closing. Taking it apart carefully (drilling out all the rivets) was the hardest part.

I did the siding on the thing w cedar fence planks that were on sale. Cedar siding was too expensive. I angled the top and bottom on the table saw and made my own overlapping for drips siding. Did the top rail wrap with metal flashing.

The ground slopes down from my slab steeply on the south side towards the creek. It left a void since I leveled off the concrete slab. Instead of wood or hard foam I decided to fill it in with acrylic double walled. I went to tap plastic and found all this 1/4” acrylic strip trims in their 1$ scrap bin. It’s my favorite part of the greenhouse. The original sunny toekick. Ha.

I have a few orchids which I can put outside in the warm months of the year.
The rest of the year they are in a indoor “grow tent “.

They actually are doing better inside so I am hoping the Cattleya types will bloom this year.
The Phalaenopsis bloom almost non stop.

I use LED grow lights, the highest lumens and full spectrum that I could find in 24” length to fit.

I’ve been thinking about getting a high tunnel for a while. Would you mind sharing where you got bought yours?

Sure here you go.
