Grafting European Plum on Asian Plum

My Asian plum tree(Methley) is wonderful: It produces over a 1000 fruits in July but is done in 2-3 weeks. I was hoping to extend the season by grafting on a couple of European plum varieties for which I already have the scionwood: The varieties are Italian Plum and one other whose name currently escapes me.

Is it possible to successfully perform this graft and have it survive?

Yes. Watch for incompatibility however. They should graft just fine but if you see the union swelling/not smooth you should not expect a long term continuance.
