Hackworth

Hackworth a little over ripe but still pretty good. Should have picked about two weeks earlier.

Looks good. I had thought about planting one of those in my orchard. I did not know anyone that actually had one to ask how they actually tasted and how long they lasted before getting mealy. Does it ripen for you in mid to late July?

I only had a few apples. For me it ripens between late July-Mid Aug.

Thanks for that info. I am looking for an apple that ripens early in the season. As long as it is not mealy or flesh that is softer or gets soft really fast. I do not like the Yellow Transparent type apple softness. They last only a few days before they get soft. Those are good for frying up or apple sauce but that is about all.
Is the Hackworth a tasty apple?

We all have different taste but I think it is pretty good especially for an early apple. It appears to ripen over several weeks. I only have one smaller limb of Hackworth.

True, different tastes and texture likes. Even from year to year can be different. Maybe a graft on an existing tree would be worth a try for me.
