How is your weather? (Part 2)

no they werent but this area has been changed from old growth forest to farmland , esp. the norheastern part of the state, so they figured they would do well. even deer werent native here. only found along the coast of Maine 200yrs ago. they followed the farmers north and we had a excellent deer population until the early 1980’s when feller/ bunchers were invented and the clear cut was the cheapest way to harvest timber. it decimated the deer habitat. moose adapted because they could move through the deep snow. deer couldnt and were/ are easy prey for the coyotes who can stay on the crust of the snow. they arent native either. oh and they didnt think to treat the captured turkeys before bringing them up here so now we have deer ticks weakening the moose and deer causing a high mortality in march when they are most stressed from winter.

looks like the bullseye so far is between Eastport, ME and St John, N.B. if so all those waves are going to pile up inside the Bay of Fundy in eastern corner of N.B and western N.S. going to be bad for those fishing towns in there. N.B already has tropical storm warnings out. looks like you guys so far are looking at 3in. where up here its 1in. hopefully that high pressure grabs it and tows it out to sea to the east but now many are saying that high may not hold together and that could allow it to turn west for a landfall just east of Portland. that scenario would be very bad for coastal Maine and the state as a whole. either way i hope you’re preparing just in case. do you still have alot of fruit hanging?

As it loses the heat of the gulf stream, it should weaken a lot as it moves towards Maine. Still going to be a hard hit on those coastal areas. Thing should be moving right along at that point==should exit the area somewhat quickly.

More drought. I hope it continues through the winter at this point

Wow its really bad just to the southeast. There was a ton of dew this morning and fog so there is that. I’d like a winter without snow. Zero inches.

Lots of areas in Wisconsin were in the 30Fs this morning. Lowest reading i saw was over by i94 by Sparta dropped to 30F==strong warmup this afternoon though–77F now.

There’s still 50-60kt at the top of the mixed layer in central coastal ME so there’s still some decent gust potential depending on the mixing. But yeah, most of the coastal New England areas are dodging a bullet.

No. Apples are crap this year…too much rain, humidity and disease pressure.

that’s surprising as ive been foraging apples this week and most are clean with no bug or fungal problems. i also expected them to be toast but ive harvest from 3 very different wild apple trees and they all were the same. i did start to get brown rot in my sour cherries even though i sprayed 3xs but was able to salvage 90% of them.

I’ll be checking in on the Mt Washington observatory for weather.

They should see 100+ mph winds.

Here we are still above 90° for highs. Lows next week will ‘dip’ into the upper 60’s.

I’m sure some are laughing at upper 60’s as being something to be happy for.

When you wake up at 3 AM and it’s still 84° outside as happened last month here, upper 60’s is something to be happy with.

Same idea here…but no thunder. Still, happy to see some rain…don’t have to water some things for at least a day of two. Sun has made it out…I hoped for another round of drizzle.

I thought one reason to move to France was for good fruit growing weather. Thunderstorms are for places that can’t grow good fruit. All we’ve heard this summer is Alan whining, again, about all the rain ruining his fruit.

It’s time to think like a fruit grower. I like any weather that’s good for my fruit and hate anything that isn’t.

finally, a dry spell after lee. supposed to be cool in the lows 60’s this week then warming into the mid 70’s again. leaves are at 10% color.

You’ll probably get frost…Oct. 1st?

Likely mid October here.

sometimes as early as now but lately more like early oct.

43 years ago tomorrow morning had frost here.

I’ve not forgotten…as that’s been the earliest.
