Forecasted total rainfall amounts are already dropping. I knew it would happen.
I might pick some fruit that is close to dropping and check on some really long grafts. Wind picking up.
Our 7 day forecast has east winds constantlyâŚbut I donât expect much if any precipitation off this latest tropical entity.
Be a nice storm to ride out on the beaches of NC this weekend.
ps. Politicians of all persuasion like to get the publicity involved and often extra funds hand-outs.
Hereâs something you donât see every day in Port Washington, WI:
- Kuhagen, Christopher, and Alex Groth. âWhat Are American Flamingos, Why Were They in Wisconsin?.â Milwaukee Journal Sentinel 22 Sep. 2023. 23 Sep 2023 <https://www.jsonline.com/story/news/local/ozwash/2023/09/22/american-flamingos-in-port-washington-wisconsin-what-we-know/70934064007/>.
About 3/4 inch of rain. Most since July. Maybe more later.
They are going to need an uber to get back home. Wonder where theyâll go for winter? Neat birds. The zoo in Madison has a bunch of them.
Can they take the WI cold?
I would imagine they could handle 20Fs or 30Fs? Even they had to get out of Florida
It actually rained .4" last night. Allegedly more to come today/tonight.
A sunny forecast with temps in the mid/upper 60s for the coming weekâŚbest week of summer weâve had all yearâŚall it took was a change of seasons.
Rochester had 4 inches thru 10pm last night. Lots of 1+ inch totals around the area. Some rain chances thru tues and dry stretch after that. Still not seeing any frost 10+ days out.
Less than an inch here so far. Better than nothing for sure. Certainly not a âdrought breakerâ
We finally got some precip too. Guess the change in the weather affected both of us. About 5 mm (0.2 in) after off and on sprinkles all of yesterday. The good thing is weâre forecasted to get about a week more of the same. This is common here; rain in 5 mm increments.
Good chance of 1+ inch of rain starting late afternoon thru tomorrow. That should be it for rain after that as this thing moves thru/dies. Something else i noticed yesterday was some very very warm temps moving in for late week/weekend. A string of 80F to 90F likely Fri-Tues
here we go, daytime 60s night time 40s-50s. down to 39F on Friday. I doubt we will see frost until the following weekend though- doesnât feel like time yet.
rain on the way also which is nice, finally.
Some good rains yesterday across the area. Some area east of here had 4+ inches. Should help refill the Mississippi. Today should be the end of rainâŚstill cloudy and 60Fs.
One thing iâm seeing is lots of new growth on plants. Probably not a good thing, but with all the moisture/humidity and clouds things have started taking off again. Also we have a lot of heat coming which will just add to it.
I like seeing late growthâŚbut if temps drop like a rock from 80âs to teensâŚin span of a few daysâŚ
then itâll all die probably. If the cold nights arrive gradual, the fall growth often hardens and lives.
83 today. Cool evenings.
Usually the real cold holds off until mid November. Sometimes even longerâso probably safe. Iâve noticed my kiwi vines have all kinds of growth the past few days, raspberries are still putting out new blooms. Nice soaking rain again today.
