How is your weather? (Part 2)

Multiple days of rain without a cold front? If I didn’t know any better, I would say its summer already. March/April/May last two years we didn’t even get a combined inch of rain. At least theres cloud cover, 90 and blue skies is a bolter’s paradise.
From frost to 90s in about 2 weeks.

It is too early for this nearly summer weather. Hoping we cool back down for a good stretch before summer really sets in.

It’s acting like spring. Series of rain events starting up. Lots of windy days.

Right around 50F again. Ground is really squishy. Rain the next 2 days should really work on that frost. Most of the snow is gone again.

Last weekend we were down in Prairie Du Chien (S WI) and my brother wanted to show me these cottages? Some people appear to be living in them full time. You can see on this one the years with the water levels. This wasn’t the tallest one. There was one that they might need to install an elevator. Quite impressive///some were built on concrete piers, some were large wooden beams. I’d love to take the boat down there in high water and see it. If the river ever got to 1965 levels it would be at the very top of that pier.

It warmed up, might see a record in the 70s soon. It’s also very wet. Disappointing as it was just drying up nicely until today, though since we’ve had drought conditions the past couple years I shouldn’t complain. Moved my potted apricots into the greenhouse to protect them from whatever might be carried by rain as part of a little experiment to see what I can grow with shelter/no spray. We’re still in for a little more cold/last snow, but nothing like January.

Amazing how much I’ve perked up just being outside in weather that smells like spring instead of bitter cold air. The chickens are starting to ramp up laying, too, and the roosters are getting rowdy. Snowdrops are up and I’m guessing crocuses will be here in short order.

Beautiful area went there in August 2023

I love that PDC area. Looked for acreage there back before I moved to central MN. I could be easily convinced to sell where I now own and move down there.

I hadn’t been there in probably 20 years. Still seems about the same. Very pretty area. Big state park just south of town. Iowa is 5 minutes away. I bought my first boat at Starks in PDC. A little warmer than La Crosse on avg. Sometimes those spring warm fronts will stall out between PDC and LSE.

I bought the only boat I’ve ever purchased from Starks too. Believe it was ‘92.

I’d look on the IA side of the river if I was looking for acreage now.

freezing rain, then rain tom. supposed to hit 45. that should take care of alot of the snow.

Technically March isn’t time to get worried about the fire season yet. Often a pretty dry month. But I’m the same, I start getting anxious in March if it’s dry. 2021 we had a bone-dry March, then April, then May, then June…. then the heat dome. Getting rain at least sometime in the spring seems to be really important in terms of decreasing the odds of a bad fire year.

Good news, the forecast over the next couple weeks has been pretty consistently showing a wet period with even some snow down at lower elevations.

Had a foot of snow this week. Snow banks are 4-7ft tall. Snowpack is up to 25”. I’m waving the white flag.

all the storms hit s. new england. we never got a storm that dumped more than 6in. all winter. our snowpack is half of normal. lakes are bare ice right now. but ive seen big snowstorms hit in march so its not over yet.

it’s the lack of snowpack up high that is scary. it will make summer bad. we are in town so we won’t burn but the air quality gets very bad, it’s frightening.

it looks like this every week, but there’s been no snow or freeze so i no longer believe it

2.55” of rain since midnight.

Maybe more on the way. All but the Asian pear trees and starting to bloom and or leaf out. Good thing me fertilizer spikes are in the ground. Grapes are growing too.

The weatherman didn’t see this coming 5 1/2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours . I think 5 1/2 inches should be considered more than a passing shower with a weak cold front.

They had a great selection of boats. My brother said now it’s more of a liquor store!

65F today but the weather is about to turn very active. Looks like 3 storms impact the area weds-Sunday. The last one being the snowiest. All the snow is gone here except for parking lot glaciers. Would love to just get a week or 3 months of 50F to 60F.

I hear you on wanting some warm weather. I’ve been spoiled the last 3+ weeks. 70s-80s and sunny.

I don’t want it to warm up at home too fast. No way is winter close to being done there. I see 0 for a low a week from today, just in time for me to get home.
