47.6F right now. Lots of melt happening. I was out there in just a long sleeve and was fine. Looks like we cool down though after today back into the 30Fs until next week should warm up (but rain).
Black raspberries are good but those thorns will kill a man. Enjoy your heatwave down south. Hopefully the Arctic air can stay in Canada where it belongs.
20 degrees warmer than here. Enjoy
No, but might make you bleed a little.
Jujube thorns or honeylocusts might kill you though.
Iāve heard locust are bad but iāve never dealt with them. I do have some young Osage orange and those are also very nasty.
60Fs have made it into SE Wisconsin.
One time as a kid, running through the swamp around the Suwannee River in north Florida, I reached out to a tree trunk without noticing it was a honey locust. The thorn went straight through my palm and came out the other side. They could absolutely kill you. Hereās a photo I just found online:
Theyāre rough on the country boy going barefoot all summerā¦including squirrel hunting in the forest.
i read somewhere that they were around during the time of the dinosaurs and grew thorns as a survival tactic. i wonder how many people died accidentally / seriously injured running into one of them?
Went for a walk in the woods this afternoonā¦about 40, no wind and barely any snow on the groundā¦about as good as it gets for Dec. 29. Wet weather this weekendā¦temps top out around Wednesday in the 50sā¦but still looks good another week out after that.
not forecast to get below freezing during the day in the 7 day. im not complaining but feel bad for the businesses that cater to the winter sports.
Itās wet, I might fertilize some of my fruit trees today.
63 and breezy today, quite a contrast from just a week ago when it was -4, 2in of snow on the ground and a -30 wind chill. Going to take advantage of this brief warm spell and try to get my ground array finished.
I see zero cold for the northeast out to 10 days. I guess it saves on the heating.
We dropped back to 18F this morning. Lost a decent amount of snow yesterday.
Whaaattt? really?
I hope it didnāt have long-term consequences
Itās wet again today, but the good news is tomorrow will be dry, good for the rose parade.
Always a very nice event!
our unusual weather here started at -8 Celsius, whenever the air comes from the east and north it gets cold. but is now at 16 Celsius
Kind of an active pattern setting up. Good shot of rain Tues and then some cold air sneaks in for Thurs and Fri morning (both below 0F). Maybe storm next weekend but warmer.
Hope 2023 is less cloudy and warmer.
Our 2022 weather stats⦠The 77"+ of rain is probably the most noteworthy item. The NWS says our area gets around 44" on average.
