I make a point to do something oriented to the future on New Year day

I transplanted a Hood pear tree to a permanent location a few minutes ago. I have to clear some brush, but will transplant Duchess de Angouleme in a few more minutes.

What are you doing to mark the New Year?

I started this year off with making new permanent graft variety tags to replace my temporary ones that are plastic tapes. I use the temporary tapes with indelible ink but after wet weather the ink begins to fade or wash off. So when I am certain the graft is successful I replace the variety label with a coded metal tag.
Helps keep a Happy New Year!

What metal tags do you use Dennis?
I’ve had good luck with these stainless steel labels

I cut firewood and stacked it… mostly oak and hickory.

These trees are being cleared from our future new home site.

I started the new year off by putting my Fukushu kumquat tree outside and insulated the pot and trunk.
