Introducing myself: Alex, Feralwood project, a food forest and nursery

hello everyone.

this forum has come up for me a few times in my search engine when i attempt to search for obscure plants and such.

today, and after the forum popped up again, i decided it was time to join.

i live in NC zone 7b, 60 acres me and my family refer to as Ardea, and i have been propagating plants in some way for about 20 years. these years my focus is primarily on working with indigenous food plants, with a particular love for propagating and selecting wild fruit and nuts.

this work has birthed the Feralwood project, what some might call a food forest, but is much more to me. and the Feralwood project has itself birthed a bare root nursery. you can read more about all that here:

i look forward to trading plants, posting inquiries, connecting, offering my advice, and so on.

thanks for holding this space!

Welcome! I actually just found your website a few weeks ago, what a coincidence. Glad you found this site, I’m sure you’ll find plenty of reading and interesting conversation I know I have!

nice! thanks for the welcome

Hi Alexander, sorry for missing this post last year. Better late than never.

Any chance you could share photos of Feralwood? I didn’t see them on your website.

I LOVE the idea of your project, and the communal foraging aspect!! I didn’t know that daylily or pine shoots were edible.

I’m early on in a planned suburban communal food forest yard.

Nice to hear from someone with a similar communal goal, who’s executed on it so well.
