Is this Hudson Golden Gem or Pitmaston Pineapple?

Due to my stellar clerical skills, I have a graft tag that says “Hudson Golden Gem OR Pitmaston Pineapple.” The graft is now 8 ft tall with multiple branches. This year it has some apples at the very top that I didn’t notice until now. Here are some pics.

Based on internet searches, I’m leaning toward this being Hudson Golden Gem but was wondering if anyone with actual experience with these varieties could chime in. Thanks.

You’re ahead of me, I have Hudson’s Golden Gem…but it has not fruited, nor even bloomed. On G41 I think…a dwarf at any rate…and I have in a 7 gallon pot.

Based upon what I would expect, your pictures are Hudson’s G.G.
A little less russet would be nice, but the shape is Hudson’s.

I grow both, and I agree.

Not only is the elongated shape a tip-off, but Pitmaston is a rather small apple. Based on the hand and arm in the second photo, the apples are too large for Pitmaston.

My HGG look much like yours, russet-wise.

They look like Hudson’s Golden Gem by the shape of them. Were the early fruits more elongated after they were pollinated and were first starting to grow?

My HGG from Cummins finally died…and I have one coming from someplace else.

Hope you have better luck this time. It’s an interesting and worthwhile apple.
