Don’t recall ever getting a Raja this big. Approaching a small Korean Giant in size. Average Raja shown for comparison. I wonder how big they would get with thinning. I almost never thin a thing.
What does it taste like, texture?
Hard to describe. Not soft like Euro pears not exactly as crunchy as an apple. Try to find some at the store to get an idea. They may have the texture, but not as sweet. Asian pears have a taste and texture of their own.
Here is the tree…
These are still a little green. Pick when brownish.
I have had Asian pears before, I was wondering how Raja stacked up against the more common varieties.
I think most at the stores were picked too early, no flavor. One I left to get yellow on our own tree had a butterscotch flavor, much better than the ones at the store.
Raja looks like a beautiful fruit!
I’ve only grown 5 of varieties. Raja is one of my favorites.
Thank you for the feedback; what are you other favorites?
Nice tree and loaded too!
Love Raja. Unfortunately here a lot of years they crack. Out side of that they are one of the juiciest asians out there.
Those are some beautiful looking fruit. From several things I’ve read on the forum I need to add Raja to my list of fruit varieties to grow.
