Were your Balloon Berry plants grown from seed and have they fruited before?
Hi! No, i got a big plant and they are growing several flower buds… i had this berry several years ago but lost it.
I haven’t heard of this one. From doing a little search, they are suppose to taste like a combination of Strawberry and Raspberry.
Yes it’s one of his names, strawberry-raspberry.
What do you do with them. I just looked them up because I am always interested in bringing new varieties of fruit onto our property. The person that wrote the blog post that I read said that they really don’t have any flavor… they weren’t really all that impressed with them. What’s your impression of them?
Hi! Well it’s a berry… you can eat and for it it’s so so… but you can use it with other berries and do what you do with raspberries or other berries. I plan to use on my juices and liquors.
Thanks for your response. I wasn’t sure if you were growing it for a specific purpose or if you just like to grow different varieties of fruits and don’t mind if they are not considered the best tasting (I suspect the latter, since you seem to have so many varieties of fruits). Someone in the blog writers’ comments section mentioned making jam out of it, saying that cooking it might enhance the flavor. I thought that was interesting.
Yes cooking is a good use. We use fruits and vegetables to our morning juice, so that’s a prime thing to us.
