How do the arbutus fruits taste? They are beautiful

The taste is great! They are sweet, the fruit is not juicy. It’s a sweet paste, a bit like the more dried figs. We love them! :yum:

Your finger lime is magnificent. My potted plant produces limes the size of cornelian cherries. (Max length 1.8 cm). Do you have multiple finger lime trees? Or at least some other citrus blooming at the same time? I’m wondering if maybe it’s a pollination issue for me. Maybe if I had a pollinator it would make bigger fruits

Thank’s! Yes i have multiple finger lime trees and many citrus blooming at same time, but i think the size of finger limes are not dependent of polination. It’s regarding the variety. This Fausterime variety have big fruits and i have others with small fruits.

I find they leave a slight puckering in my mouth that I don’t love. They are grown as a hedge at a public school near my house and I eat them occasionally but that puckery feeling means I rarely have more than a couple.

Do you use them for anything other than just fresh eating?

Really? Here they are really good and people like them…
Now there are people that use it to make bread but that’s a new stuff. Usually they destilate them to make an alcoolic beverage.

Maybe I’m picking them too soon! Or something in the soil here makes it have a pucker. Its not bad, similar to the way an under-ripe banana makes your mouth feel.

Those are already done fruiting for the year here, but maybe next year I’ll try the extra soft ones.

Yes you have to pick them very soft and totally red. Very yummy! :yum:

Just walked past the bushes and there are still a few hanging on! I’ll have to pick a couple on my way home to give them another chance.
