Any ideas on what type of insect this egg sack belongs to? Found on a blueberry bush. My initial thought was Chinese mantis but it doesn’t look completely identical to other examples I’ve seen.

Pretty sure that’s what it is. I’ve seen some in my orchard that look like that after something bigger takes a bite out of it.
…that, and the type of plant structure chosen by the mantis may affect the shape and size of the sac (insect and spider egg mass structures are called sacs, rather than sacks).

I commented on the spelling after noticing that Google did not suggest the correct spelling, and anyone researching the topic may get better results using “sac”.
As to the egg sack pictured above, don’t try that at home unless the eggs are hard-boiled!
