One-in-a-million Yellow Cardinal

Saw this posted yesterday… right in Auburn(Bill)'s town. Interesting…

Lucky, the linked article is a few years old. Also, the last time I checked, there were about a dozen reports of a yellow cardinal scattered across the southeast.

Oops. Didn’t notice the date. Wonder if the bird has returned in subsequent years?

Wow, beautiful!

I wonder if it ever gets to mate and if so what do the offspring look like.

It mated 2 years ago and had 3 eggs in the nest best I remember. Something broke up the nest and ate the eggs before they could hatch.

Crows.

Very likely! Also possibly squirrels (there’s hardly anything I won’t blame on those nasty little beasts.)

Rats tend to invade bird nests around here. Agree that crows do it too.

blue jays are likely culprits here.

Bluejays infrequently invade nests and do so in desperation. It’s mostly a myth

It would be really interesting to see the yellow Cardinal in person.
