Have 2 local seedling pawpaw and got 5 small fruits this year from one of them. They were delicious! Tasted like a Tropical-Banana Bread in custard form

I see a bunch of flowers on or about May 8th.
All varieties pretty much bloom at the same time. Give or take.

Started in early October. Will go on for a while.
How are your fruit looking after the freeze? I think I saw that you said POU hit 28°. I had 28.4° yesterday morning and 31.5° this morning.

everything ripened in a 6 day very warm period between Sept 26 to Oct 1…not at all ideal …the last were from a Chappel cluster that I could not reach and fell…given the very short time frame, I could not eat all the few fruit I got…~30…I did find out I have to wait until they are very ripe as not fully ripe fruit give me the sxxxs…with watering, the trees stayed in good shape until the frost (Oct 10)…the leaves are turning fast now…if this year is representative, it seems all varieties will mature at my site just before the first average frost…a good result I guess…watching the storm (radar) progress up
the coast…off the Carolinas now…looks like Sunday night here…we need the rain badly

Pawpaws continue to ripen and drop. My sole Wabash was chewed up by critters despite being bagged. So annoying.
This seems to be peak of the season here. About 6 pawpaws from each young tree per day

How did it go with the ziplock idea?
I think i was able to get 75% of my crop (as long as i checked morning, afternoon, early evening for dropped bags) but curious how it went for you.
…got the bags but wasn’t able to do it…the spasticity in my left side arm / hand makes it totally useless…even to the extent that I can not hold my cane with it…so I hold the cane with my good right hand…and have to be extremely careful while standing not to fall if I let go of the cane to do anything… I have not mastered doing most anything one handed that requires any dexterity …after getting one bag on a single pawpaw, I just said the hell with the rest…probably could have pulled it off sitting down…end result was I found one drop the critters got to out of a half dozen or so drops…was able to pick all the rest but only got ~30 (first year total) fruits…apparently, they have not yet learned to climb the trees …but I suspect next year… they will …I wound up picking the bagged one before it fell … it would have worked…I’m sure

ive heard in a lot of places squirrels dont mind them, but raccoons and possum do. either way hopefully you will produce enough that you can share, or else maybe look into a seated solution. I wonder if something like sock assistors could work with a stretchy mesh bag like a stocking. slip it over

Planted 3 pawpaw seedlings today. First two I need to give some afternoon sun shade more than likely, the last one is behind the papaya in the afternoon. The first two do get morning shade till about 1130/noon, but its very harsh sun out there right now. I’ll probably put some potted lemongrass in front of them to give them dappled shade for now.
These are bigger than the one I tried before, were in treepots instead of rootbound in a regular pot, and will get regular irrigation. So I am pretty hopeful for them. Looking forward to some good growth in the spring.

i planted my 3 as well today. i gotta get some pics but our paw paws will share a birthday. We should check up on our long lost paw paw sextuplets next year

Planted my Dwarf Pawpaws (Asimina pygmea) yesterday. I put them pretty close together, significiently smaller plant than the common pawpaw. Hopefully winter will come late and they will be able to get some good growth in before dormancy.

Lots of pawpaws.
Will freeze them after removing seeds so I can taste throughout the year.

Dont leave the skin on! Larger/Firmer ones can be cut into chunks, but dont leave the skin/seeds in them.
