Everyone has their own pawpaw variety now.

I think the key is getting a cultivar that stands out from the rest. Either an improvement or variation in flavor.

Is it safe to cook pawpaws? I’ve heard some people complain about gastro-intestinal distress.

Tell that to the multiple people on the forums who have had the issue from baked goods

It’s possible some people are more sensitive than other and some cultivars are worse than others.

I believe they were all? (On the forums) not in loaf form, which would prevent oxidation from most of it

I still hold that, if it is a high temp oxidation as theorized, the best method is a loaf form and cutting off the crust and only eating the crumb…which is sad but probably the safest option if you’re eating anything baked

I reused these pots this year for seedlings, and they actually worked great for me. I kept them in a crate, chunky medium and nothing fell out. My only problem with them being that they’re tiny, but they were “free.”

I bet little cut out squares of well draining coco coir mats would work well on the bottom too.

Anybody heard of this Gros Michelle pawpaw variety?

I can’t do cooked pawpaw, personally

Wow that Lehman’s Chiffon is nearly white. Have you fruited it before and does it tend to be white fleshed like that?

What were everyone’s best varieties this year?

For me, Florence White really shone and produced over 1 lb fruit.
Potomac also stood out and was huge this year.
Nyomi’s Delicious did great and was very large.

I used to have this variety for several years. Some fruits were white but most were yellow.
So, not a reliably white fleshed cultivar in my experience.

i havent, looks like its somehow restricted to ohio, would be worth reaching out to the org or finding people in ohio. Sounds interesting.

Any of the usual pawpaw/persimmon scionwood sellers going to open their stores soon?
