Do you have fireblight in Swizerland? The really fireblight resistant pears are a short list This thread has been going since 2014 and has lots of pear reviews.
The pears you may not have heard of and should consider growing Another long running thread with lots of reviews and pictures.
I have 48 pear trees that are between 10-40 years old. I am trying to get them back in shape for production. I don’t even know what many of them are.
Some others, I have cut to stumps and I will be grafting onto this spring. I’m picking varieties, so I read a lot of pear posts!
Tell us about your pear trees. Which ones do you have? age? pictures?
– Yes, there is fire blight in Switzerland. But it’s not so bad anymore. It started over 15 years ago. At that time, many pear trees were cleared. It has been surprisingly quiet for several years.
– Writing about my varieties would be too complicated. I collect pear varieties. There are probably over 400 different varieties. Many very rare regional ones that I would also like to test first. But I’m always interested in swapping.
