This reminds me, Red Zao Su Li which I grafted a few years ago is finally growing. It has a new stem 2 feet long. I was worried that it was not going to grow large enough to fruit.

This is not red variety, its the green one. I have both.

Unfortunately no, I don’t recognize that pear. But! A pear does not fall far from the tree so which tree did you find it under?

I know from where she falled. And my fruit falls inside the bag. The problem is that the ciclone we got last January blown some tags and i dont remember what they are because its the first time they are fruiting.

I was seeing the scion list and i think this is Potomac pear.

Slow growth seems to be it’s trait. Mine hasn’t done much in years.

It doesn’t look like a Potomac pear to me - Potomac has distinctive bumps on the skin.

I saw pics of potomacs like mine… And pics with very variable Potomac pear forms… From my scion list this is the most likely one i saw but Im Open to other proposals.

I just try one yesterday because I couldn’t wait. The bottom was still green, but it’s changing color to a deeper golden color. I have to tug at it hard to break the stem. It tasted sweet and crispy like most Asian pear. To be fully ripe, the bottom must turn golden color too. I expect 2 - 3 weeks for peak ripeness.
My Hosui nearly ripe. I thought I thinned the tree well but I probably should have thinned more. I sometimes will shake the tree to knock fruit off and a bunch fell.
They’re not bad but not yet at peak ripeness. Guessing they’ll all ripen in next 1-3 weeks

I bought a red clapps favorite many years ago. It was obviously another mislabeled tree, as it never turns red. Good tasting pear, but I sure wish it was the color of yours. Beautiful pears you’ve grown there, congrats on your success.

Yes, I think it is just the normal clapps pear. I love red pears. I have a few different ones growing now, but they have yet to produce.
I got a pleasant surprise this spring when a two year old graft of Dew Drop pear I put on that Clapps tree grew about 8 pears this spring. The Dew Drop actually have a nice red sheen on them that I wasn’t expecting. When I rechecked, some pics of Dew Drop online do have a fair bit of red to them. That was a nice surprise, that I’m looking forward to tasting soon. Very pretty pears, with good firelight resistance developed in Canada. Supposed to be a very tasty pear.
