Hi, everyone,
I bought a persimmon tree with three fuits back in September. The fruits are turning orange by the day, a pleasant sight in the garden.
Unfortunatewhen there is a black hole in two of the three fruits and it is getting bigger. How come there is such blakc hole? Is there any way to stop the hole from growing? I understand there are many experts and enthusiasts on this forum. I would be grateful for your advice.
Best

Just guessing I’d say bee’s and it’s growing because they come back for more.
Insect bites and water got into the wounds and rotting started to get bigger imo.

Put some cotton gauze and a bandaid on it like any human wound. /Sarcasm
Keep it dry and put a trap nearby is my best advice.
Thanks for your feedback. It’s difficult to keep the hole dry as the hole is facing upwards and there is lots of rain recently.
Is it a good idea to pluck it from the tree and keep it facing down indoors or leave it to rotten on the tree?
This is a type of rot that infects some persimmon varieties, I see it often in the Sharoni persimmons. Pick the fruits and eat them (if non astringent), if astringent, you will have to wait till they lose astringency, but you may lose a significant part of the fruits.
You can pick them now and let them ripen on the counter.
It is astrigent type. I will pick it and leave it ripen on counter tomorrow.
Is it necessary to cut out the dark part on the fruit?
