Persimmons 2026

Is anyone growing Perviksta, or tasted it? Looking for any comments / first hand info about it. Thanks.

This is the graft that matters most to me this year – Dar Sofiyivki. It’s grafted to DV rootstock that formerly carried what appeared to be the Dar Sof imposter. It appears that buds are beginning to break.

This is a late April graft of UKR UZBEK, on a year old 90 chromosome seedling.
I’m thinking of leaving the graft short and bushy, as it has naturally developed, hoping the resulting tree will handle its large fruit without breakdown. What do you think?

Does anybody know how to get ichi ki kei jiro in California? Seems like no can ship persimmon trees into the state because of agricultural restrictions.

You can summer pruning it by cutting back like 1/3 of the branches to thicking them up each year for a few years then you don’t have to worry about fruits load.

Planting justice i think is in California and has fuyu jiro in stock and ikkj out of stock (can set up alert)

I think Stark Bros ships to CA. I don’t think there is any special restriction on persimmons, only citrus.

I’ve been reading the yearly persimmon threads, and I lost where there was a poll for ripening times.

Can someone link the poll?

Thank you.

Looks good. I should probably cut this back to one right?

Yes. Find a strongest branch for a central leader.

My in-ground hybrids Kasandra and JT-02 are blooming. In-ground Kakis have white buds but they haven’t opened yet.

Kasandra:

JT-02

Edit, next day (6/13/26). in-ground IKKJs, and some Taishu branches grafted to them, are blooming. It looks like Sheng and Giboshi blooms will open tomorrow.

Edit, next day (6/14/26). Everything is blooming today, hybrids, kakis, and even Americans.

As of now my 2.5 year old fuyu tree is holding 8 fruit and they are getting larger. I sure would like to get a sample of a ripe one this year. In the first picture is a round fruit from the original tree purchased from Home Depot. The second picture is from a unknown scion that I grafted and it has a different shape. This is a good example of why labels should be put on as soon as possible. Any guesses as to what variety the second fruit is? Just noticed that the first picture captured the unknown one in the upper left corner.

90% of my GIBOSHI blossoms are missing from severe winter damage. I see a few, but this will be a radically reduced crop.

I have 22 fruit on this small 5’ 2 year old coffee cake tree. Last year I had about 8 after thinning the ones touching each other, and they were so good.

I’d like quantity, but not to the point where I really sacrifice quality.

15 fruit are on this one branch, and the other 7 are scattered throughout and larger.

Do you guys think I should thin?

Side note: My lone Suruga…

With the ribs it looks similar to Jiro. Will be easier to tell later.

I looked at online examples and it looks a lot like Jiro.

Thanks. They were all equal so I picked the front one, since it will help distance from fence maybe.
