Plum/Apricot Rootstock

OK, so I placed an order for various root stocks so that I could turn branches that need to be removed into potential trees.

I had also added to my order Goldenheart plum, Shiro Kaga and Kanko Bai but the Nemaguard root stock I ordered was much too thin to use with these scions.

Fruitwood is telling me that they have Myra 29 and Mariana 2624 that I could use for the scion but I’m not sure which one to pick anyone have any input? I’m in zone 8A, mediterranean climate. I think we have a loam, sand type soil with lots of rocks in it.

You bought root stock but the diameter is too small for the scions?

And now you want to buy more root stock.

You should really ask what the diameter of the root stock, less you have the same issue again.

But if I where to guese Mariana is a dwarf stock and will likely be thinner then Myra 29

You can also keep your eye out for a well branched plum tree at your local big box store.

Read again - Fruitwood told me what they had available that would fit the scions.

Myro 29 and Marianna 2624.

I phrased it that way because none of that was clear by your first post.
You don’t want to plant dwarfs if you think your soil is challenging.

Not clear enough?:

I can’t see where I said I had challenging soil and neither of those rootstocks are dwarfs, both say they are vigorous semi-dwarfs.

I usually go with standard or semi dwarf. I’ve never bought bona fide dwarf rootstocks.

Mariana might be more prone to suckering? Both look like they have similar nematode/disease resistance/soil adaptability (and probably more tolerant of wet feet, not that it should matter much in sandy loam soil).
