I have not tried most of the plums that I have or have ordered trees of, because I could not find them to try.
For people who have had these plums, please let me know if some of them are very similar to another that I have. I was hoping diversity and most trees I only ordered one of and I figured I’d see which did best here at some point, and then could adjust accordingly.
European:
Ouillins
Golden Transparent

Bavays green gage
Improved French prune
Asian:
Elephant heart
Satsuma
Toka
Emerald beaut
Flavor grenade pluot
Flavor supreme pluot
We were able to try the emerald Beaut because it came with four fruits on it. It was in a smaller pot, and it blew over in a windstorm and lost two of the fruits which we put in the fridge. The other two ripened on it, and had a pretty blush, but the ones in the fridge did not get a blush at all. When we first got them, the fruits were small, very hard and green. I was very happy about how it finished ripening, because the sunlight was limited and sometimes shaded. We enjoyed the two fruits, happy to have this tree.
We were able to try flavor grenade pluots from the farmers market and boy were they good, very happy to have that tree.
The same vendor said they had green gauge plums, but they didn’t specify variety and they were oval and slightly acidic and those were also good, but not sure which green gauge they were. I thought the original green gauge was a smaller round plum. I had heard there was a green gauge going around that was technically Asian, so who knows which one I got to try but I did like it. For some reason, I thought gauges had no acidity. For gauges I can only go by what I find online so who knows which right and what isn’t.
I am a little worried about the flavor supreme pluot because they kind of look like dapple dandies (from pictures I’ve seen) and I have tried dappled dandies and I’m just not impressed at all, so I’m hoping the flavor supreme isn’t identical to dapple dandy.
I’ve seen people say they like Toka but I read it’s a crazy good pollinator, so that’s one of the reasons I picked it, hoping to have more of all plums. I have never tried the actual fruit, but I think it might be a smaller plum?
I’m sure I have had the French prune dried but I’ve never had one fresh. The fruit vendor at the farmers market had Italian plums and I really didn’t care for them at all. Hardly any flavor so I’m hoping the French prune plum is better for fresh eating.
Satsuma and elephant heart look a little similar to me from pictures too although I imagine the elephant heart is bigger. Do they taste similar?
