Razzmatazz Grape

Thank you for your thoughts.

Mine in N. FL fruits like crazy but I only get around 5 cups since I don’t put netting around them and fertilize like I should. I think also I might have way to much fruit so this year I might put netting around some and pick half of the fruit off? I perfer my OhMy but get way less.

Just to add to what @SethDoty says about muscadine vigor, I did a quick estimate of annual vine growth on my muscadines (Paulk and Hall) and they grow 300 to 400 feet of new vine each year. That is basically 50-70 growth points generating between 5-7 feet of growth.

If you restrict the rootball size by keeping it potted and prune aggressively, including regular “tough ups” throughout the growing season, keeping them smaller might be possible. But it looks like Razz has pretty small grapes, at least for a muscadine type, and I would imagine that growing it that way might make them even smaller.

When I first started with dines I purchased 3 varieties, keeping one, black fry I believe, in a 5 gallon pot as a backup. It did remain manageable and produced a few grapes over the 2-3 years I kept it alive. I pruned it back each year, never really fertilized it and it was controllable, but wasn’t worth the effort to me for the limited production. Perhaps if I had established enough growth points in a goblet shape it might have had better production, so it might be worth playing around with if you are just trying to experiment and get a few grapes.
