I’ve taken control over a small ~1 acre plot and want to establish a vineyard. I’ve had such a difficult time trying to find a supplier in or near Michigan who can sell us posts, wires, and anchors; do any of you know any you would recommend?
I’d ideally like to utilize metal posts over wood for their durability and for the fact they don’t need pressure treatment with toxic chemicals that could leach into the earth over time. They are becoming more and more common in modern vineyards, but any vendors I can find online are all, pretty much, located out in CA (unsurprisingly).
I did call OVS yesterday and unfortunately they were out of stock on a lot of the things I was looking for. Very nice people but I’ll have to check back with them in the spring it sounds like
@DavesMead
Try checking with a local chain link fence co. For metal posts.
A 2in post may work well for your line posts, need something heavier for end post ? Can burry something like a old tire rim for deadman at ends.
Large black locust posts are another nontoxic. Option
Sometimes your local metal scrap yard may have posts at a good price
Check your local farm / feed store for high tinsel fence wire.
I would try to source these materials locally, as shipping would be expensive .
