Redstone Canyon Gold

I probably already know the answer, but figured I’d ask anyway.

Anybody growing this apple? Apparently it’s a wild seedling from CO that St. Lawrence Nursery has been selling for the last couple years. I’ve got one coming this spring, so with any luck I’ll know something about the fruit in a few years.

If it is wild to Colorado it is likely extremely hardy at the least. Our spring is a up and down of 50s or higher to snowing. We are also very dry here. Can’t speak to the taste though.

I assume the apple was found in/near the Redstone Canyon, hence the name. That’s just a guess though. I know nothing about CO weather, but if SLN is selling them as being “very hardy” I’ll give it a chance.

Any observations of disease Resistance thus far?

I dont have high CAR pressure. This tree gets a few spots here and there.

FWIW…SLN sent material in for DNA testing of RCG. They have not shared any results. From looking at the fruit and reading what littke I can find, I’d bet this is NW Greening or at least a seedling of that variety.
