Never did it and no need to do. People do it if they pick figs unripe.
I have five trays dehydrator and when it is full of figs I do it at 125F for 15 to 18 hours depending on how soft figs were. .
I put mine pretty ripe in dehydrator and worked fine at above time.
I think 135F is too high and will dehydrate too quick and even make figs too hard.
I suggest just put one tray of figs and check it between if they are what you like. Trial and error because everyone has a different dehydrator and different type of figs.
Good Luck trying your new dehydrator and you will love it.
Thank you @Naeem … I will try your recommended method… as soon as we harvest more than we can eat fresh.
Another question … I was looking for a berry fig… with strawberry flavor… suitable for in ground growing.
Found one that sounds like it might work.
Have any of you tried the Brooklin White fig ?
Reported to have strawberry jam… or glazed strawberry honey flavor.
Discovered growing unprotected in Brooklyn NY. Has to be quite hardy.
I found a couple of folks on youtube growing the Brooklyn White…
Both taste it but do not mention strawberry… do mention berry.
It looks like it grows and produces figs very heavy, like my CH Fig does.
Not sure the flavor would be that much different, but it is a different color, and larger…
I found some info last week that said it is in the Honey/Berry flavor category… as Desert King is.
I had it and then gave it to someone it was ok for my liking not great. Can not recall exact flavor since it was a long time ago. Before putting anything in ground I will look if it is resistance to split. One fig I heard a lot but never put in ground is White Madeira #1. White Madeira #1 was discovered in Maryland growing unprotected very hardy. It is top of the line fig but little rare which fall into my criteria. My bigger WM#1 potted plant died last winter due to my negligence not giving any water all winter in storage. I have a rooted cutting with few figs on it will put that one in a year or two in ground. It is a small fig but full of flavor. Everyone describe figs taste different way and other thing climate is a big part of taste too. This year my HC produce figs just like other top of the line figs because we had longer dry spells at ripening. I will post a picture in day or two from WM#1 and you can search it too.
I found this cool chart that list figs by flavor, and skin color.
I really like my CH Fig… I would really like to have another variety that grows as well as it does and produces as long as it does… but is significantly different in taste, or second choice would be ripens several weeks earlier.
I am starting to think that Brooklyn White… which this chart shows as Honey Berry Fig… may be quite similar to my CHF. It is a different color… not so important, larger, which would be nice, but other than that may be very similar.
I think the CH fig may be either a Sugar Berry Fig, or Honey Berry FIg… somewhere in that group I think.
Still searching for that “Strawbrerry Fig”… and just noticed the Emerald Strawberry in the chart above…
White Madeira #1 one of my favorite fig very pleasant and sweet mix of flavors.
Harvested from a rooted cutting yesterday. Small size fig but amazing .
Picked these yesterday morning 100+ mix of everything . We do not get this quality figs in the past just weather is helping a lot. If weather stays dry for two three day next harvest will be huge.
Negretta 09-08-21 main . This fig was on chopping block but oh boy it was so good that I want to make a copy of this. Remember all this is growing conditions we have hot and dry weather for last two three days and getting the best quality figs you can ever get.
