I found more figs walking around town today.

Probably Brunswick

Some sort of Mt Etna

None of these are ripe yet, but maybe some sort of Adriatic.

Figs walking around.

Found these in the back/side yard on my CH Fig.

I do know two other houses in my home town that have figs.

My first Italian 258. Now I know what all the hype is about! Delicious even if could have ripened a day or so longer. But the ants found it even in the mesh bag and I didn’t want them to ruin it. Can’t wait for more to ripen.

Maybe I will try something like that this year. I ended up just continuing to pitch spoiled figs into the lawn last year because there is a spotted wing drosophila parasite I want to try and help get established. Seems to have worked, but ff pressure is really low so far so I have not seen many of the wasps yet.

Congrats! It’s a beauty!

Everyone’s trees look so lush! I’m going to try some pruning…and maybe more water, at least before the figs start growing.

Black Jack, maybe 15 years old, inland valley in N Cal. I used organza bags, which worked for the birds, but had to add electronic cougar sounds for the racoons.

It looks like people use figs as hedge. It may be a good idea to ask for some cuts in the Fall. Is this Lancaster downtown?

How did you add the sounds? Thanks!

I bought a cuple of these a year ago because of bats in our belfry ( okay actually over our front door), and

The Guardian™ – Ultrasonic Pest Deterrent | Pest Repeller Ultimate.

It has settings for various varmints. The "predator " sound is for racoons, opossum, and I think deer.

LaRadek EBT
Tasty and nice large fruit.

Do you grow any other English brown turkey?

Thanks! Does it work as described? Can it scare deer off?

Florea: First fig to ripen, picked yesterday. It was split at bottom but ripe or over ripe and super sweet. My first Florea ever and I am very excited about this variety as seems like 4 vertical shoots have about 60 + figs on them. hoping to ripen them all.

Improved Celeste: Hopefully fully ripe in few days

No, just LaRadek. Not enough room to squeeze more in!

You have one of the very best English brown turkey’s, since not many people grow them I am curious how they do in different parts of the country in comparison to each other. Yes I understand about space limitations.

We’re having very little rain, so figs are doing well and no splitting issues. But ants are as bad if not worse than ever.

Here are a couple of Bellaclare Sport figs with an Izbat An Naj between them. When I cut them open the Bellaclare Sport on the right was filled with ants, but the other two were good. Bellaclare Sport is a very nice fig with a mix of berry and honey flavors and the Izbat An Naj was a nice sweet honey fig but with hints of melon or pineapple. I think I’d need it to get riper to get the full pineapple flavor it is supposed to have, but there were already some ants on it so I didn’t want to wait. I think they’d all be classified as mid season.

I didn’t take any pictures, but another fig I enjoyed yesterday that I don’t see a lot about was De La Reina. I had a very tasty one yesterday - it was like a larger, sweeter Mt. Etna in flavor. Most of these are still in 5-gallon pots, but I’d say all three of these varieties should get bigger pots next year to increase my production.
