Well it was bringing things to a near-halt. I’ll try one more time when there are very few people on, but it was making things too slow now so I turned it off.

I’d be careful. You have something very rare going here. You have a collection of participants who are genuinely helpful. “Social Media” is not like that. Just ask about the common experience on Discord or Facebook (which has really gone downhill in the last 5-6 years). The interface allowing heart reactions is part of what encourages that.

Yay, that seems to have done the trick with making it more obvious. I don’t want to accidentally fat-finger and insert some statement that a fellow member didn’t actually write. I do wish that the system would reject the listing of something as a quote if it has been monkeyed with. Was that not a function before?
For me the benefit of more emojis would be for posts where you want to be supportive but “like” (which is what the heart is labeled as) isn’t really the appropriate emotion. For example, when someone posts that their garden was destroyed by a storm.
Whenever I heart something like that I always hope the person realizes I’m not liking their bad news!

I’m also concerned about the direction social media is going. One optional feature they added here which I don’t even want to bring up is you can make some posts allow up/down votes and the ones with more ups rise to the top. Like Reddit and Stack Overflow etc. Bleach! I don’t think the multiple reactions is a factor in the decline, unlike this up/down vote business. Even worse they have a new “gamify” feature to have all these leaderboards on likes etc. Double bleach!! Boy I’m glad these can be turned off.

It was never a feature. I put “…” in the middle of bits of quotes I removed and it never complained.

I am getting the same issue. Firefox 115.32.0esr (64 bit) returns the message, “HTML content omitted because you are logged in or using a modern mobile device.” I am using Windows 7 on a laptop computer. Could the fact that I’m using the Extended Support Release of Firefox be causing this? I can only get on Growing Fruit from my iPhone browser.
interesting, i use firefox on windows 10 and have 0 issues.

The Firefox ESR version is required for compatibility with Windows 7. I did not upgrade to Windows 10 due to using some legacy software incompatible with it.

Maybe the issue for me is simply that the new forum software requires at least Windows 10 on a Windows machine?

Unfortunately we live in a world where you need to keep upgrading upgrading upgrading or you get left in the dust. I had to upgrade the computer we were using because it was soon going to be completely unsupported and get no security patches. I assume with this new Discourse version they left behind a few more browser versions. About all I can say is what @snarfing suggested, try out every browser that will run.
Thanks much for the offer! But I think we got enough $$ in the last drive to last a few more years. The price did go up a bit though, the cost of storing and serving the images varies from $15/month to $80/month and its more at $80 now. All the AI’s slurp up the images to train their models and I think that has bumped up the load. In an odd twist of modern economics they should be paying us for using all the images we collectively put hard work into making, but instead we pay for them to get them for free.

Using the latest Brave browser and I see nothing wrong. Looks like you did a steller job.
I didn’t vote in the emoji poll, but years ago when I used to be active on Facebook I felt a lot of “notification fatigue” from all the various “reaction” notifications. I really wouldn’t mind keeping it simple here with only hearts. Sometimes less is more.

Brave was the first alternative I tried to install, won’t load. I will try some other options, and fall back to accessing the forum on my iPhone in the meantime.
