Say I have a friend who lives in NY maybe pick up some of these berries and mail them to me in NJ. Anyone maybe want to invest in a few for acquisition of the seeds?

By saying “the Tesla of Strawberries”, does that mean that they are about 20 times overpriced?

I am very fond of Tesla’s, I find the price to be very right for what you get.

I’ve paid $8.50 per plant of a certain strawberry before, but certainly not $5 for a berry. Sounds like the grower would want to monopolize them and not sell the plants anyway.

I can’t believe I just bought 6 berries. 3 for me 3 for my guy picking them up.

I read the story, and it sounds like they’re growing them in a controlled environment in a greenhouse. I work for Appharvest, which is now growing tomatoes in a similar setting, but they are planning on growing other veggies and fruit at other locations. The only fruit I can think of possible in that setting would be strawbs.

Fun story to read! Now that is sticker shock. The difference it seems is in texture and the seeds being so deep in the skin you cannot see them, only the holes they make. New Jersey?

Please update Us with the taste test. It sounds great.

Sounds like marketing hype to me. If you actually compare the alleged differences with a typical strawberry, it 1) has no texture, 2) is overly sweet ( I don’t know about you, but I don’t think “strawberry candy” tastes as good as an actual strawberry), and 3) has about the same amount of fragrance that a well-grown, fresh-picked strawberry has.

But I live in a commercial strawberry growing area, so maybe I’m not the best judge.

Hey you can have a million dollar fruit stand!b😹

Reminded me of Weird Fruit Explorer’s strawberry video shot in Japan

Not sure if they are the same varieties. FWIW, he mentioned (in another video) MdB is much more flavorful than this

Now,the $60 for two pounds of dried Apricots, that I’ve been thinking of getting, doesn’t seem so high.

The seeds you plan on getting can’t be true to type or am I wrong

Strawberries are always self fertilized unless your actively going for a new hybrid. I doubt they would be growing a crappy berry just to sabotage the seeds. The seedlings should be very similar to there parent. Nice thing about strawberries is growing out 20 seedlings the worse your going to get is still going to be a better strawberry then retail.

In that case I am really curious about the taste too !

My NY friend picked up the berries. I gave his one set for his trouble. But he hasn’t mailed them to me yet missing the post office close today. He said they where good.

I think they will likely grow true to type any cross would only be from there other cultivars.
