Don’t miss the discussion with Harbin above. He says that my “Taishu” isn’t. I have no reason to doubt him. Like some other members of the forum, it looks like I have been a victim of fraud.

Maybe we can figure out what the variety really is. FWIW, it is PCNA, delicious. Lats year was my first decent crop and it appeared to ripen over an extended period lasting a few weeks but beginning somewhat early.
Well, as long as it has good flavor, PCNA, and produces pollen, still would be equally good for persimmon breeding in my opinion.

In fact, my (female produced) fruit looks exactly like the one pictured by the Japanese.
I’m not sure where “truth” lies but one thing is clear: The presence of hermaphroditic flowers (and fruit) does not prove that a variety is NOT Taishu. Rather, the presence of such flowers is consistent with reports from Japanese breeders.
