Ten year anniversary of GF, how many of the OG are still here?

It just came to me that Growing Fruit is ten years old. I joined a year later, but was wondering how many of the original members are still here? Hard to believe it’s been ten years.

BTW thanks @scottfsmith for starting this forum.

What constitutes an “original member”? I think of myself that way, but in fact I’m only a member from February 13, 2015, and I think Scott formed it a little before that -February 10, 2015. (I thought I only waited one day to join, but apparently it was two or three.)

I’d say those who joined within a couple months of 2/11/2015.

I lurked a few months before I joined up, but I don’t consider myself an original.

I joined Febr 12, 2015. Can’t remember how many years before that I was a member of the gardenweb but probably at least five. There probably aren’t a lot of people here that have been active in fruit forums before then. I know I joined GW well before Alan. He was a late arrival there. I can’t remember when Scott became active there. The reason I remember Alan is because he burst on the scene as the world’s champion pruner and immediately butted heads with Blueberry, the WillsC blueberry who started ourfigs about the same time growingfruit formed.

I started Garden Web / Houzz back around '08. I started here a few years ago. Can’t remember, maybe 2-1/2 - 3 years ago.

Before Garden Web I was on some Yahoo homestead forum for a short time. They said I would not get any peaches unless I sprayed them.

I posted a few times on Houzz before I came here, I think I had the same handle. I remember seeing you and Alan and maybe Scott on there as well.

?

So how does one obtain such a title, and what is the competition called? Something like the World Series of Pruning? Is the trophy like a giant golden lopper standing on a brass apple tree?

Wow, did not know that. Is Garden Web still a thing now?

Not since we left …

Prior to web browsers, there was Usenet. I participated in a garden forum there. Did anyone else here?

I joined March 7 2015 when I lived in Washington state. I’m currently fruitless in Dublin Co. I am working on changing that but hard to find good variety apple trees this time of year.

Happy Birthday Growing Fruit!

I joined in March of 2015. The knowledge I gained from this site was hugely instrumental in the current success of my orchard. A big thanks to @scottfsmith and everyone who paved the way.

Jointed 2-16-15. I am still enjoying reading and contributing to the posts when I have a break from work.

I’m a 2021 recruit. I was likely actively lurking for a couple years before that because the thread shows up in search results a lot, and usually with helpful information. I know the variety of people I was seeing posts from has changed a lot in that time, and that is unlikely to be only because the threads I seek out have evolved. i.e. I know we have lost quite a few, at least as active members.

Anyway, thanks to all of you getting shout outs as O.G.; you’ve built a nice home for all of us plant addicts.

I’m still here and I visit almost every day.

Joining a site before a certain date has no bearing on anything

I think most of the originals are still here, the notable ones that I remember leaving were Patty (@hoosierquilt) and Diane? (@MuddyMess_8a ), I think they were mods.
