So not very confident in the morus rubra search and rescue?
It’s sprouting more nectarine leaves, but it’s also sprouting a few ovate leaves. However, the nectarine leaves are a bit wider and the texture differs from its sibling.
It sure is branching a lot.
Any Geneticist in here?
Why is now sprouting elliptical and ovate leaves instead of intermediate leaves? Any scientific reason?
I recommend spending $25 on a ploidy test.
While at the genomics conference last weekend, a representative from this company told me that they perform ploidy tests. For meaningful results, you need to ask for genome size, chromosome count, and whether it is diploid or polyploid.
Sounds like you need a lot of fruit to get a viable seedling, preferably 1000 fruit so you can end up with 10 fruit to try and compare. Can you partner with an orchard to get those kind of numbers?
Thank you. I will take it during the Spring.
Are they on separate branches?
How many branches total?
Yes, separate branches.
Two branches with elliptical ones, and the main trunk with ovate leaves.
It sounds like a freak! Will be interesting if it gets fruit.
@itheweatherman
Fascinating!
