I haven’t had anything steal grapes yet, except yellow jackets. I keep expecting to go out one morning to see them all disappear, though.

I discover fruits missing everyday! Bagged plum ( maybe Satsuma), looks like this

I just found out that my aronia berries were all gone. No one was interested aronia berries for years but this year they’re gone. Maybe new animal moves in the yard or nearby area.

That’s one of my biggest frustrations. All this work, then an animal steals everything overnight, or a buck kills the tree. I solved my veggie animal problems with an enclosed garden, but I don’t know exactly what to do with the fruit trees. My main plan is to have an abundance of trees so I’ll be able to outproduce what they take.

Hope your method works. It doesn’t work in my back yard

My goal is to keep a peach tree dwarf for winter protection and for animal protection. I’ve found no way to protect against birds outside of hardware cloth. I’ve got a few pluots that have just turned and that is what i have over them.

Birds are not big problem here. The squirrels , possums, and raccoons are the big problems that made most damages

Well it appears that a seed i collected years back and sprouted/grew out has come pretty much true–flavor king pluot. I tried one that had turned a few days back–not ripe but i could taste that fk flavor even in that still unripe fruit. I need to bud this over to another tree.

and another seedling tree has some funky weird looking fruit. Not sure this is going to be anything that ill keep.

Nice looking flavor king fruit from seeding. I threw plum pit in my yard but have never seen plum seedings. I did have peach seedings, pear seedings, but no plum seedings

Wine grapes have higher sugar, they were pretty much good for “All above”, except they have seeds. Some people don’t like eat fresh grapes with seeds.

Wasps got the rest of mine. It looks like i should probably set up a bait trap and try to locate the nest if i can. Twice i’ve found ground nests in my yard. The 2nd time i got stung in the face when stumbled across it by accident. That didn’t feel good.

I budded some plums over to the remaining peach tree i have. I’ll do a few more this evening.

Luckily I have not been stung by wasps yet. knock on the wood. But I have many wasps in the yard seeking something sugary. They like to munching on pear peeling, apple cores and other fruits. I have not dug around my yard yet.but will soon be doing that because I am going to prepare soil for fall veggies. Hope I don’t run into a nest

I went to move a garbage can i had sitting by my pond and just as i was picking it up i saw a tree frog sticking to the inside of it. The lid doesn’t close all the way so he can climb in and out. I just left it.

I went out in the dark and he was on the outside. Probably eating some bugs.

I had a couple goldfish die. Wonder if it was the heat. Never had that happen. It doesn’t rain here anymore and i haven’t added water lately.

Already ripped out a few tomato plants that looked like garbage. My cucumber vines died a few weeks ago. I see cilantro sprouting again. Didn’t start any fall veggies.

I occasionally have frogs in my yard. I am always wondering how do they live during the winter and managed to have offsprings without water

They have antifreeze and i think they basically freeze. Some overwinter in ponds or soil. I wish i could do that. IF i could i’d go offline from Nov until Feb. Crawl into a chest freezer.

Squirrels are ravaging my pear tree. Stupid tree rats. My fault that i’m the only house around with white and red oaks full of acorns.

Had to pick all the wine grapes today. They appeared ripe enough and the bees were gathering for battle.

This is only year 2 on the vines and I don’t have enough production to make a serious product. I just stemmed them and froze them in vacuum sealed bags to process later. I’ll try to get a reading when I use them in a few weeks.
