Just fyi sunrise ruby goumi is not on its own roots like they claim. I purchased one last season, there is clearly a graft point and some of the root stock has started to grow and shows several different qualities than the grafted portion.
Oof on the Sunrise Ruby. I just got one this week. I’ll look for a graft union on it.
England’s sells seedlings of Wang Bo. I picked up three last year, and one of them has a tag that says “Wang Bo x Chorus”. Not sure if it’s different from the other two.
FYI, I believe the Hidden Springs goumis are all seedlings. I planted three of them today.
Almost Eden sells Sherwood goumi. I assume it’s on its own roots. They might be seedlings as well, but I’m happy to be corrected.
A guy name Reed was selling rooted cuttings of Catherine’s Find on FB. I just planted one of those out, and it’s looking really healthy.
I have a Wang Bo grafted on a.o and I have Carmine. I’m thinking about crossing them an growing out a large number of the seedlings in 2gallon pots until they fruit then evaluate for any winners.
Does this link work? The guy’s name is Reed Dahlmeier.
If it’s any help, I ordered my Sunrise Ruby from Burnt Ridge on Sep 2, 2025. I watched their website, Raintree’s, Almost Eden’s, etc. like a hawk last fall for the harder to get goumis to become available. They sell out quick.
I wish nurseries would stop putting “TM” on cultivar names. It’s not even legally enforceable since trademarks on cultivar names are not legally valid. Only marketing names used ALONG WITH the cultivar names can be trademarked.
I’m interested to hear how Sunrise Ruby does for you. I had ordered it for the 2025 season and my order was cancelled so I never ended up getting it. So far, I haven’t seen much documentation on it (like taste and fruit size).
