What kind of berry is this?

Anyone know what kind of berry this is? Found it on a dirt road in Northern Maine. Thought it was Buffalo Berry but has no thorns. Growing in partially shaded conditions. Not anything I’ve seen in Maine.

Oh and sorry about the gibberish at the bottom of this post.

I’m sorry but it looks like honeysuckle to me. Pretty but evil.
I can’t see very well, are its leaves opposite or alternate? Thorns? What are the seeds like when you squish a berry? Are the leaves silvery on the bottom?

has no thorns . berry is very soft with small seeds. looks a lot like red currant. occasionally you see some double berries. leaves are alternate. kind of slivery underneath. looks a lot like honey berry leaves. bigger stems have stripes on them. berry is bitter at first taste so i spit it right away.

I’m still pretty sure that’s honeysuckle. Autumn Berries have one large seed with ridges, and the leaves and berries have sparkles like glitter on them.
Honeysuckle has alternate leaves and paired berries. If it’s on your land, kill it with no mercy.
And please don’t make a habit of tasting unidentified things. There are some things out there that can kill you with one taste! Gives me the shivers…

Invasive honeysuckle.

i knew it wasn’t autumn berry because i have them. its on a nearby farmers land. just tasted it on the tip of my tongue after squishing it and spit it immediately. i forage mushrooms so i know better than to ingest something unidentified. I’ve heard of honeysuckle but never seen it up here. where is it native to? thanks for the help guys!

Asia somewhere. We have several types in KY. The more vining type is called Japanese honeysuckle. They are very invasive and allopathic regardless. Forestry departments spend huge amounts of time and money to control it. Goats will eat it and the flowers are fun, otherwise kill kill kill!

Yes it is honeysuckle. Those plants are very evasive around here. Taking over around my creek and in my woods horribly. I’ve been cutting them out over the last three years.
