What's Growing in Your Veggie Garden? Got pics?

Thanx for the heads up. It’s worth a try. I usually use chicken liver.

I put three out on my patio to feed to the birds and the chipmunk ran out and ate one like it was a carrot. Yuck!

Tomato horn worm, they do like tomatoes.

Dinner Time!

Stuffed bitter melons, tomatoes and banana peppers. The bitter melons got stuffed, then boiled (to reduce its bitterness) before going to the fry pan

Now onto the fry pan along with the stuffed banana peppers…
And the stuffed tomatoes :stuck_out_tongue:

Tom, Looks very yummy :yum:. The bitter melon is boiled then pan fried? Any sauce go with it?

Finally, dinner is ready!

With oyster/balsamic vinegar sauce to glaze and tie all flavors together!

Drum roll, please… :stuck_out_tongue:

Presenting… the final assembly…

IL847,

Oyster sauce, balsamic vinegar, garlic, chives and some corn starch, seasoned to taste and that’s the key to tie different flavors together for a sumptuous meal. I was thinking of chopping some red pepper into the sauce but withhold the action due to some spiciness in the banana peppers. But this batch of banana pepper is not spicy at all, so it’s a missed opportunity but the meal is very satisfied nonetheless…

Tom

Murky, those are so cute! Are you going to share with us how you mold your squash and cukes? That is very clever and I love them!

I wish they had square molds. The hearts work well. The stars have to stay in long enough to fill in the points, but just a few hours longer bulges out the low points an deforms the mold.

oh, sooo yummy.tom, where do you live, I want to be invited for the dinner :yum:

Thank you, how fun!!!

Tom, thank you for remembering to take those pics and sharing your wife’s recipe. I hope you tell her often what a good cook she is! They look even more delicious than when you first described them.

Set a place for me, I’m on my way over for dinner!

You can buy them on ebay (where I bought mine) type in vegetable mold. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Some if us spend the summer trying to avoid vegetable mold.

Have you tried your Buddhas on pears yet?

I ordered some baby shaped molds, similar to the Buddhas, from China, that haven’t arrived yet. I like the look of the Buddha molds, and considered ordering them, but I was concerned that using them might be deemed disrespectful.

You are too funny! I did not have pears this year. Hoping next year will be my first pear year, with Buddahs!

Actually it is not disrespectful at all. The Chinese (who make the molds) are boxing them (buddha pears and Kwan-Yin their latest mold; a Chinese immortal) and selling them for ridiculous prices to take as gifts to buddhist shrines and temples. Most of the offerings you will find at temples and shrines are pyramids of fresh fruit; ( also oil, incense and money). There are many Buddhists in China and they would not disrespect one of their major religions.

I would be more concerned with these! Google peaches in panties. Laughed out loud. They came up when I searched for molding fruit. Murky you wouldn’t take these!

Yeah, I’ve seen pictures of those peaches. I’m afraid to do a google search for “peaches in panties” while in a public place

My wife didn’t think the Buddha pears would be disrespectful either, but I prefer to err on the side of caution in such things, at least when I’m thinking.
