What's happening today 2016?

I read it takes six weeks to germinate and the usually they come up in August. I planted 32 in April in my heated garage. I have three peeking up. One grew with the seed still on it in the air and then it ripped in half. They are in my greenhouse now. The other two popping up look like a bean spout still in a u-turn with the seed still under the ground just like the top of yours. I might have to throw a party if they ever sprout! I have five kegs of beer on tap of home brew anyway, lol!

How do you keep them last longer in a vase. Mine last about two days. I can get roses to last a lot longer.

This year, the weather has been fluctuating. My peonies bloomed 3 weeks later in the heat so they looked miserable. Some are still blooming.

Do you sell any yellow ones?

Here’s my handles with some clear oil on them. The tire I inflated after these pictures. I had to find my air chuck. The tire was flat like a pancake so getting it to sit up against the rim on both sides was harder than I thought. I had to do my trick with the starting fluid five times before it blew up onto the rim. What I do is spray either inside the tire and light it. the woof of the flame inflates the tire so fast it pushes the bead outward against the rim. Sometimes you don’t have to ad air. Sometimes on big truck tires you need to ad air right away before the bead pops back off. Some times your putting the tire out! This wood is so hard you can’t even mark it with your fingernail! You can see the old handles on the ground between the saw horses. I should have painted the metal but I wasn’t planing on putting time into this.

John, now you’re going to have to take care of the metal because those handles are going to last a very long time. Once you paint the metal, the wheelbarrow will be better than new.

I’m going to have to paint two wheelbarrows. I made four handles! You can see the other wheelbarrow in the first picture.

I am an amateur woodworker and like seeing Osage. The locals call it hedge apple.
I would like to chat about wood if it ever comes up.

I have a lot of rough sawed trees. I do have one of my property lines hedged with these trees, but I got these from the guy who owns the mill along with some walnut. He milled some 18’ oak tree trunks for me for $75. Then asked if I wanted some walnut and osage for another $25. I did leave a white oak tree trunk that was 9’ 6" long, 52’’ on the bottom and 49" in dia. on the top. He couldn’t get it on the mill! We picked it up with our crane at work and put it my trailer. The crane was in the red with the boom all the way in, and the outrigger sunk into the asphalt about one inch! His skidster almost couldn’t pull it off my trailer. He had my rear tires to my truck off the ground with the weight of the log pushing the trailer down in the back.

I didn’t know you could make wine from them. My mom grows them, or I guess I do now. She doesn’t do much of anything anymore.

We are getting a few breba figs now.

Wow that’s a monster! What kind is it? Let us know how it taste, and if you can cut it open and take picture of it we would like to see it.

mamuang, I pick them when still in fairly tight bud, that way they last 5-7 days.

I’m growing Cara’s Choice as it was a fav of the breeder. I also have Legacy which is from the same breeder. I’m super impressed with the Legacy plant, but have yet to taste fruit. It’s super hardy and a strong grower. The first crop has over 100 berries. Dr. Mark Ehlenfeldt, was involved in release or help breed many. Sweetheart, Hanna, Pink Lemonade, Raz, and others.
I should get fruit this year.

I like Legacy, mine are about a week away.

I had to call a halt to my weeding efforts the other day once the ground became too dry to let go of their roots. That means I’ve switched to spending my days watering.

It’s not that weeding is fun, but it is an effort that pays off by showing progress. Watering, on the other hand, doesn’t give any visual payoff to measure your accomplishment. The reward is that trees and other plants are still alive at the end of the day.

You must have one heck of a trailer. I used to get logs from a mill that would have some sort of metal some where in them so they wouldn’t even try to saw them. There was an oak log like yours in one load and the log truck had a hard time getting it on and off the truck. So I know how heavy one is .

Recipe please.

Pour a shot of vodka into the vase full of water! (waste of vodka, but your peonies will last a little longer).

Peony wine sounds interesting. I would love to have a peek inside that recipe?

That’s interesting. why vodka? Not tequila or some other alcohol?

I have those also and like them a lot. This season will be the second time for Cara’s Choice.Last year, what I noticed was,the berries were fairly sweet, even before fully ripening.Legacy is one of the best. Brady
