By next week we start going into the 60’s again and stay there (and or higher) until summer begins. We are now in spring. No chill any longer.

Here, I see yesterday’s nightly forecast for mid to late week has been ‘corrected’ to go from 40 to 35…that’s frost in valleys, no doubt.

Since weather is unpredictable, I have change my outlook towards growing fruits a lot. For me spring is the worst time of the year. All my tree’s are doing reasonably well but who knows tomorrow. It’s a long time till picking time, come si come sa.Whatever!
Seams my persimmon days are history, even though my citrus trees pretty much fills the void, hopefully comes fall/winter they will take care of my endeavors. Mine are small tree’s but ultra productive.

Spoke too soon about the wind being gone. There is another front coming through from the north tonight, so it is howling out there!

Ah, the bluebells. Nice to see old friends again.

How interesting that pistachio can be grown in TX!what part of TX you are in? Must be the part that didn’t get the frozen temperature last month

I grow pistache Chinensis in KY.
No nuts, just ornamental.

Planted out the haskaps today, hopefully they all make it.

Also two gooseberries

Lows in the mid 40s for the 10 day forecast. Hopefully they have a chance to harden a bit before our next frost (although I assume they would be fine).

I am actually in the panhandle so we saw -2 for several straight days. We get regular cold weather here and single digits is not too uncommon. I think my biggest challenge with pistachios fruiting here is the humidity. They are said to like less than 10% humidity and while we are not humid at all we average above 20%.

I grow those as well. They are very tough trees.

I have. I never had black aphids before only, pink and green. These are rounder.

I use the stuff with lidocaine - comes in spray, roll-on, etc

What kind/brand of tape is that? Looks unfamiliar to me, which isn’t saying a whole lot :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
