ive never seen so many aphids under 1 leaf. my stanley plum had 3 leaves like this. i feel like everything in nature prefer plum and cherry leaves over everything in the garden.
A few more coop cam captures. Some turks, porcupine, and then Ebony & Ivory cleaning up the treats the chickens didn’t finish.
If you see a lady from Kansas with binoculars and some serious zoom lenses , she is only after shots of your puffins. She is one of my sisters and family. I know these are not in my garden. They were cute enough I hope you all don’t mind I posted them. They saw them finally in Boothbay Harbor, Maine! They said they were very cute and their wings move like a hummingbird. Their family is very interested in bird watching. I enjoy all the different birds around but I never go out of my way to look for them unless I think a population is in danger.
thats an ant for sure. the ants going back and forth is what brought this leaf to my attention actually. there was a borer beetle and a few different looking flies around as well. a lot was going on in this area of the plum lol. i just squished the leaves together
that tom is an absolute trophy… wow
they are definitely on my bucket list. they were in trouble 5 yrs ago or so but have bounced back some. lots of bird watches like to go on Acadia national park and watch the perigrinne falcons nesting on the cliffs there.
Found a snake in my Forest of weeds. Any thoughts on how I can make him a good habitat if I remove the weeds?
The buzzard (black vulture) laid eggs I my shed in February. They hatched in April and the babies which are now as large as she is came out of the shed this week for the first time. Today she is teaching them to fly. This has really been fun to watch and I hope you enjoy.

I love me some native tussock moth caterpillars. I get a lot of the orange/black milkweed ones every summer.
ive seen those before. what species?

I have twice tangled with those tussock moth caterpillars. Mainly hickory tussock. Once I put my inner biceps on one in my truck, another fell down my shirt while mowing and I sat back on him, pushing those hairs in my back.
You are reminded for about a month what you did with a heavy itch. I tell people I’d rather be stung as it’s itching stops in a few days.
They are pretty. Thanks for sharing.
i kinda thought something that flashy has a hidden danger.
Windstorm brought down our Green Gage plum. When photographing the damage, I discovered a snake had found a new home.
I can’t really see his head so not sure the species. But he’s a good guy I wouldn’t charge him rent.![]()
A friend told a few days ago that when driving by our place she saw a snapping turtle along the side of the road. I was glad to hear it, since we hadn’t seen one ourselves on our property for a couple years. These photos are from 13 years ago when we witnessed this interspecies encounter of the first kind.
