World Record Gourd

It weighed 470.5 lbs grown by a man in Sharon, MA.

Giant 470.5-pound gourd grown in Massachusetts makes way into record books.

@marknmt - get to work, Mark

Not me!! There are a few big-pumpkin folk around here and the vines to produce a single pumpkin take up their whole yards! And how in the world are you supposed to do anything with that beast aside from look at it?

I’m getting to the stage of life where less is more and small is beautiful.

But will it pass the drug test?

This is incredible!

The grower said this summer in MA was perfect for his gourd because it was very dry (by our standard). His gourd did not suffer any fungal problem.

Somehow, the size of it makes me think of the book, James and The Giant Peach!!!

I would have to be out of my gourd to try growing one of those.

I would love to get some seed from that gourd. Starting with genetics of the right potential is important when trying to break records.

You should look him up and write to him. He may give you some seeds.

I looked him up. He is a pro on growing large gourds and pumpkins. In 2016, he won largest pumpkin at 2,075.5 lbs.

Last year, he grew a large gourd at 320.5 lbs. then, this year.
