My peach trees in 6a did poorly. Some fruit set, but nothing like it could be.
How did you do?
Same here. Mine are young, but we lost 80% during winter -13. Unfortunately, we just lost half of what was left due to hail. What varieties do you have?
My Contender has a decent fruit set, probably enough to do some thinning.
Flat Wonderful is a bust this year.
All other peaches are young (2nd spring in ground), they bloomed, but no fruit set… July Rose set one peach…Earlystar, Redhaven, Victoria - none.

…and a few other varieties I can’t remember off hand.
I have 12 old enough to fruit (6) 4 year olds and (6) 2 year olds. I had one young Victoria peach knocked off by hail. None of the other youngers had blooms. My contender, red haven and belle o’ G are the only olders with really any fruit. I just planted an intrepid and PF 24C this spring. And very encouraged by the 1 year old challenger and frost that both had viable blooms develop. Obviously I removed the baby peaches, but very hopeful for their superior hardiness.
6b/7a here. My Red Haven has about 20 that made it through the frost (although I’m sure more than half will be lost to PC because it rained for 7 days straight here and I was unable to spray). All blooms were fried from a frost on my EarliGlo and Flaming Fury Jumbo. I just bought a potted Contender that had about 15 peaches on it. I plucked all but 3 off just to see how they turn out.
Very few blooms on my four trees, 8-9 years old, all large trees. We had a long cold winter so that may have been why. Didn’t have many blooms last year either.
Apples and pears tho, had lots of blossoms.
I’m north of you in a 7a/b area. Set was ok, but I get wrecked from bacterial spot every year since I haven’t figured out how to control it. I probably won’t get anything again this year.
Significantly fewer blooms this year, but if they all set fruit at least I won’t have to do any thinning. Mericrest nectarine had some freeze damage on last years branches.
Maximum amount of copper with sticker going into and out of dormant got it under control for me
Zone 5b all my older peaches and nectarines got a great fruit set. The Desiree peach did ok but not great. Lots of dead flower buds that didn’t blossom. The only issue will be thinning. It is going to take a long time.
This is the flowering and fruit set year I have been waiting for 13 years. I have peaches, nectarines, plums, pears and apples and 2 interspecifics in abundance. I will be happy if I get a some from each tree. Birds and insect destroy evwrything but I know what I need to do. Hope I dont get lazy or forget my sprays. Just one mistake and its all gone. Then I sound like a Chicago Cubs fan. There’s always next year.
Just south of Omaha, peaches were a bust this year. I think we had a week of warmer temps in February that caused them to begin to break dormancy, and then the buds got fried when temperatures got cold again? Our low this winter was only about -15 and I’m pretty sure they’ve fruited after worse winters than that previously.
The apricots on the other hand; despite not having a lot of blooms, the Moorpark tree has set a good amount of apricots (relatively to any previous set). Maybe 3 or 4 dozen? The Harcot right beside it on the other hand, has set only a few. The Moorpark tree blooms began blooming only a few days after the Harcot, so the difference was rather surprising. Both apricots have been in the ground at least 6 years, and are about 9-10 feet tall. Assuming they ripen to maturity, this will be only the second year I’ve gotten more than a handful of apricots from them.
My peach trees look like they are dying out. They looked like this two prior years and last year they looked great and I had a bumper crop of peaches.
Peaches and nectarines were a bust for me last year. Same thing, a warm up in February. Only the cluster style spurs flowered which at the time was only 2 pear trees. Apples we to young for them to flower and cross pollinate since there was very few flowers.
Who knows now. Just got home from my second job and saw I have a frost warning. I wondered, it was chilly this evening. Peaches are mostly large pea size. Heavy coating of surround on them. Maybe that’ll help.
